Walter T. Holman

Walter T. Holman (Walt) peacefully entered into eternal rest at home with his family by his side on Friday, July 7, 2012. Walt was born on February 8th along with his twin sister Maureen Holman Ryan. Besides his sister, Walt leaves a cherished daughter, Katherine Mary (Katie) Holman. Walt also leaves his brother Thomas J. Holman and his sister Elizabeth Nicholson. In addition, Walt leaves his nephews and God Sons Christopher Ryan and Thomas Holman and his three nieces, Erin Ryan, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Holman, and Bridget Nicholson. Walt also leaves a special group of lifelong friends. Walt was predeceased by his parents Walter F. and Elizabeth Holman and a special Aunt Mary M. Chieppo. As a young man, Walt worked at Coppola and Sons Garage. He was a long time devoted employee at the United States Steel Mill. Recently, he retired from the Yale School of Medicine Physical Plant, where he worked for 29 years as a licensed plumber. Walt has been an avid sports fan his entire life with an intense passion for the New York Giants. Walt managed various softball teams such as Coppola and Sons and the Fireside Cafe, both of which won the championships in their leagues. Walt left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was well respected for his knowledge, values, kindness, and generosity. Let Walter T. Holman (Walt) rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Smilow Cancer Research Center., P.O. box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508-1849. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven, Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernadette Church at 10:00. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Monday from 4-8pm.
